    if u can spend more money go for this
    canon powershot g12.

    I don't suggest sony at all..

    go for Canon/Nikon products..

    these are really good for picture quality..

    if you dont know anything about cameras, like me :D canon SD1400(which is a point and shoot type) is a best option, I own this one
    if you know a little bit, you can go for canon S95, it has lot of manual options
    just my few cents

    For compact cameras go for Canons IXUS series. Sony is good for SLR cameras.
